Primarily a muralist, Djerlens begins his creative process by researching the site in collaboration with local residents to provide a contextual framework for his work. He seeks out historical, environmental, or cultural phenomena that can create unique identifiers for visitors and the community. His intent is to find connections that foster a unique sense of place. Djerlens believes that art can be a powerful means to influence reflections on community and social issues, connecting people and overcoming obstacles.
